Together the BMBF supports within the framework of the FH3 programme, application-oriented research of universities of applied sciences in collaboration with industry. A new round of funding has started. Applications can be made until the end of January 2006.
There are almost 160 state-funded and state-recognized universities of applied science in Germany, which provide a broad range of subjects in the engineering sciences, the social sciences and economics. Furthermore, there is a growing number of interdisciplinary study courses, such as industrial engineering or biotechnology. Courses are offered in the non-medical therapeutic area, e.g. in health and care management and care education or ergotherapy, and also in the area of the new technologies, e.g. courses on information and communication technologies, media informatics and medical technology. The whole range of subjects taught at universities of applied sciences is rounded off by numerous consecutive study courses with bachelor's and master's degrees. The Science Council as advisory body to the Federal Government and the Länder makes recommendations on the development of universities of applied sciences.
Together the BMBF supports within the framework of the FH3 programme, application-oriented research in all departments of the universities of applied sciences.
