Lifelong Learning Programme: the new European Education Programme

The European programme in the field of lifelong learning brings the SOCRATES and LEONARDO DA VINCI programmes together under a single roof. Between 2007 and 2013 a budget of almost 7 billion euro will be available for exchanges of teachers and learners of all ages as well as for cooperation between education institutions.

The Lifelong Learning Programme comprises the entire path of lifelong learning from school to higher education and vocational training up to and including adult education.

 

COMENIUS

The COMENIUS programme is addressed to schools. Funding is among other things provided for school partnerships as well as for supporting the mobility of school students and teachers. New teaching methods can, for example, be developed within the framework of European projects.

ERASMUS

The ERASMUS programme is addressed to institutions of higher education. Students can apply for funding of a study period at a European institution of higher education. Funding is furthermore provided for teacher mobility or for the development of European curricula. European company placements have been newly introduced for students.

LEONARDO DA VINCI

The LEONARDO DA VINCI programme among other things provides funding to promote the mobility of trainees and training personnel. Innovative approaches in vocational education and training are developed within the framework of European projects.

GRUNDTVIG

The GRUNDTVIG programme addresses participants in adult education. Funding is among other things provided for the development of courses and innovative teaching and learning methods.

TRANSVERSAL PROGRAMME

Horizontal questions such as language learning or learning with new media are in addition dealt with in the transversal programme.

    European Launch Conference for the Lifelong Learning Programme

    The Lifelong Learning Programme 2007-2013 will promote the transborder mobility of teachers and learners at all levels of education and it will support cooperation between education institutions in various European countries with approximately 7 billion euro.
